TEAM
Yana
Ivanova
Is a 5th year Law student specializing in the sphere of civil law. Her
interests lie in the fields of real estate and international commercial
arbitration. 2011 will be her second consecutive year of participation
in the Willem C. Vis Moot. Yana finds that she developed a sort of
addiction to the Vis Moot. This year she decided to take part again
because in her opinion participation in such competitions brings with it
many bounties, both pragmatic (the development of the oratory skills, or
the addition of this experience to a CV, for example) and idealistic
(which are reflected in the opportunity to represent the university in
international competitions). During memoranda preparation she deals with
confidentiality and counter-claim matters.
Bilya
Lokova
A fourth-year student, Bilya specializes in international private law.
Her subjects of interests are conflict-of-laws, international commercial
and investment arbitration. Last year Bilya took part in two moot
competitions on public international law (international civil aviation
and international humanitarian law). According to Bilya, she decided to
take part in Vis Moot, because it deals with issues she is most
interested in: private international law and arbitration. During
preparation of the memoranda Bilya works on the issues of composition of
the tribunal, principle of impartiality/independence and fair treatment
of the parties, conflict of interests and estoppel.
Madina
Lokova
Madina is a first-year postgraduate Law student. She decided to
participate in the Vis Moot because she had always aspired to pass the
boundaries of standard educational program. For her, Willem C.Vis
Competition is a great chance to improve the knowledgebase on different
issues of international private law, to develop analytical and research
skills, to practice legal writing, to take part in oral pleadings and to
join the international Vis Moot community. 2011 will mark her second
year of participation in the Moot. This year Madina focuses on the
matters of quality of goods and its examination.
Varvara
Aryutina
Is
a third year Law student, interested in private law. For the past two
years the area of her research has been the concept of agency in its
comparative
perspective. Varvara
decided to participate in the Willem C. Vis Moot because of the opportunity to
learn something new. For her, the idea of discussing law issues and
debating with the teams from the different countries in English sounds
gripping. In the course of preparation of the memoranda Varvara works on
the subject of conformity of goods.
Andrey
Gromov
Andrey is a 3rd year Law student whose sphere of interest is civil law,
in particular the law of property and contracts. He believes that
participation in Willem C. Vis Competition is a great opportunity to
widen the knowledge in civil law. During preparation for the Moot, he
works on the issues of contract’ formation and quality of goods.
